Sound familiar?
- Neck pain and stiffness that started after an accident, even a minor one
- Headaches you didn't have before
- Pain or tightness spreading into your shoulders or upper back
- Feeling dizzy, foggy or "off" when you move your head
- You felt fine at the scene, and it hit you the next day
What's going on
In a collision, your head whips back and forth faster than your neck muscles can react. The joints, ligaments and muscles of your neck get strained. Pain and stiffness often build over the following 24 to 48 hours. Even after the pain settles, whiplash can leave your neck's coordination and position sense off, which is one reason symptoms linger.
Why it keeps coming back
Rest helps at first, but a neck that stays stiff and guarded doesn't recover its normal movement and control. That's how a short-term injury becomes a long-term problem.
How I treat it
Your first visit includes a full assessment and your first treatment on the same day. Treatment is matched to how irritable your neck is. Then you choose your path:
Symptomatic approach
We treat until the pain is gone. Then you're done.
Corrective approach
First, we get you out of pain. Then we keep going, restoring your neck's movement, control and strength so the problem doesn't linger and your body becomes resilient and fit.

Compare left and right
Sit tall and slowly turn your head to the left, then to the right. Does one side turn less, feel stiffer, or bring on pain sooner? Don't push into pain. Just notice. A difference between sides is a sign your neck hasn't recovered its full movement.
